Mahmoud Obaidi

Mahmoud Obaidi, is an Iraqi-Canadian contemporary artist. After leaving Iraq in 1991, he obtained his mfa at the University of Guelph in Canada, and completed diplomas in new media and film from Toronto and Los Angeles, respectively. Since his first international solo exhibition in 1995, his work has been exhibited in a number of museums and galleries around the world, including the National Museum of Bahrain (Kingdom of Bahrain), Museum of the Institut du Monde Arabe (France), Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art (Qatar), Museum of Modern Art in Jordan (Jordan), Station Museum of Contemporary Art (Texas, u.s.a), the Museum of Contemporary Art of BaieSaint-Paul (Quebec, Canada), among others. His work is part of the permanent collection of a number of significant museums, foundations, and private collections. The artist’s first solo exhibition in Qatar was held in Katara Art Center alongside an upcoming major group exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art in October 2013. Obaidi lives and works between Doha, Qatar and Toronto, Canada
